This is a monument to Israel Putnam who was a general in the American Revolutionary War. He fought with distinction at the Battle of Bunker during the early part of the war. He died here in Brooklyn in 1790 and is buried nearby the monument. The monument is located right along route 169 in Brooklyn and is worth a stop to see it. This is my second of five hundred monuments I want to capture.
